The term Rozana is originally Persian and means the opening that exists in buildings allowing ventilation and light inside. This feature was important and necessary in old architecture, hence the name of the organization.
The Rozana organization is an NGO established by a group of people representing the owners of the old town houses, attics and courtyards. These are the stakeholders and they form 2/3 of the association's hierarchy. The remaining 1/3 are concerned professionals who possess relevant skills and knowledge. In addition the Rozana has dedicated two seats in its founding board for the municipality as the relationship is one of coordination and partnership. There is also a seat for the Birzeit society which represents the Birzeit community in the Diaspora.
Vision
To transform the old town of Birzeit into a vibrant, dynamic and living legacy by developing its architectural heritage and instilling life in its fabric of houses, attics, courtyards and streets, hence acquiring a permanent position for it on the heritage and rural tourism map of Palestine.
