Palestinian Youth Empowerment & Volunteerism Program (PYEVP)
The PYEVP is a youth program implemented in Partnership with Amideast over a nine months period (December 2011 – Augsut 2012). It aims to build the capacities of around 100 Palestinian youth, from the West Bank including East Jerusalem, between the ages of 18-25, in community engagement and leadership skills to enable them propose, plan, organize and implement youth-led community initiatives. Selected Young Volunteers are receiving specialized training to build their capacities in communication skills, public speaking, presentation skills, leadership skills, proposal writing as well as ICT and social media. They are also to engage in pre-set youth-initiatives such as the annual Birzeit Heritage Week and The Jerusalem Path initiative, as well as the possibility to propose and implement their own initiatives.
The program aims to promote the sense of volunteerism amongst young Palestinians, hoping that they will be agents of change within their communities who can make a positive impact on their city, governorate and nation.
